Multirotor UAV PCB Design
A multirotor UAV electronics brief should connect the flight controller, power distribution, propulsion and mission payload. Motor count is only one input: the operating point, wiring and peripheral load define the electrical demands.
Map the power system
Document battery voltage range, propulsion load cases, avionics consumption and connector ratings. Distinguish battery-side current from motor phase current. Measure representative load conditions instead of treating throttle percentage as a linear current multiplier.
Define interface ownership
Assign each receiver, GNSS unit, telemetry module and payload to an interface. Capture connector orientation, voltage levels, termination and grounding in a system diagram. Clarify which board supplies each rail and how faults can affect neighboring subsystems.
Assess redundancy explicitly
Additional sensors or supplies do not automatically provide independent redundancy. Examine shared regulators, buses, connectors and firmware behavior. Record failure responses and verify them against the aircraft requirements.
Prepare the build
Use a revision-controlled fabrication and assembly package, plus a test plan for rails, sensors, outputs and communication. Board testing and complete aircraft validation should have separate records.
